Palestine, most important issue of Islamic world

By Mohammad Safari
In his speech in the ۵th International Conference of the Palestinian Intifada in Tehran, Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei dismissed the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as a cover to legitimize the existence of the Zionist regime, and asked for the full liberation of all Palestinian territories. In his perspicacious speech, the Leader called for holding a free referendum in the entire Palestinian lands to determine the fate of the Palestine.
"We neither propose dumping the migrant Jews in the sea nor the UN arbitration, rather our proposal includes a referendum to be participated by all Palestinians," Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated.
Palestine issue has been the most critical concern of the Islamic world for over ۶۰ years. The pro-western Arabic governments have not implemented any appropriate measure against Israel's crimes. But recent uprisings in the Arab countries may challenge this attitude of the Arabic governments. In fact the toppling of each of the pro-western Arab dictators makes Palestinians closer to freedom.
Egypt, as the most important Arab country, has a determinant role in Palestine issue. Thus, the US and its European allies have done everything they could for deviating Egypt's revolution. Zionists fear that Egyptians revolution leads to the abolishment of Camp David agreement. By occupying Israel embassy in Cairo, Egyptians showed their aversion to Zionist regime. This move indicated that Egyptians are determined to sever relationship with Israel and help Palestinians achieve their freedom.
Besides Egypt, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey have an important role in Palestine issue. Iran, from the beginning of Islamic revolution has supported Palestinians. Turkey is one of the few Islamic countries which have relationship with Israel, however, Turkish people have repeatedly shown that they have sympathy with Palestine and support their rights.
Syria, like Iran, has always been in the front line of resisting against Israel. Because of this, the US has been planning to topple Syrian regime. But due to great national support, these plans have been failed.
